Severino Wins Again

Luis Severino pitched 6 shutout innings tonight to even his record at 2-2.   He might have gone farthrer, but Girardi lifted him for a pinch hitter with men on in the bottom of th 6th.   Then in the 7th of 2-0 game,  Girardi brought in Wilson instead of a well rested Betances -- and almost gave away Severino's decision before finally bringing in Betances.  Btw Pitch FX showed Severino getting worse than squeezed at times...

The Yanks ended up scoring another run, but they're still not consistently punishing bad starters like they should have today.

Eovaldi goes for the sweep tomorrow.

I hated taking him out in real time

It was a little frustrating, but ARod was on the bench and there were guys. I was more frustrated when Wilson, instead of Betances started the 7th.

The Yanks never score for Severino, he was lucky to get the 2 plus 1 later. Rookies rarely get close calls, he has to build history with the umps...

If the season was on the line, I would go Severino, Eovaldi, Tanaka

Yep, Servino seems so calm, also fantastic stuff.

Drew is now batting .192 after batting .162 last season. I don't think they would ever stick with any young player for even a fraction of this amount of time given those abysmal stats.

It is so maddening

They talk about Yankee pride they should show some.

I think Gardner may be the most admirable Yankee in recent memory. He built himself into a hitter with seemingly very few of the usual tools.

But is this a slump or an injury?

April: .311 .400 .410 .810
May: 252 .322 .421 .743
June: .351 .411 .622 1.033
July: .247 .369 .341 .710
August: .194 .299 .247 .546

Yeah, I don't know what is up wth Gardy but I think his LD% is through the floor over the past few month and a half. I, too, wonder if he's hiding an hand of wrist or shoulder or whatever. Love that guy and hope he finds it.

Sterling, commentating on possible lineup combinations in Boston, said if you wanted to play Drew, you could put Ryan at 1B.

Put him in a home already!!!

Drew seems to hit only when he's falling off a cliff. I hate this shit head.

And then the senile duo in the booth defend him. I'd rather not even know what's going on in this game

Eovaldi will only be the great pitcher he can be when he stops having that one bad inning in every start.

Well there is hope for 2B as Ackley is playing today in SWB while Refsnyder DH's.
