Knicks Take Porzingis

The Knicks just took Kristaps Porzingis.  I was not a fan of this player as a prospect for the Knicks because though he's 7'2", he weighs about 230 and doesn't really rebound.   He is a potentially great shooter, but he's weak and cannot play in the post yet.  What's more, what good have the Knicks ever gotten from Europe?  Gallo still hasn't made an all star team, and don't even get into Weis or Lampe...   They better get more picks.

Love the pick --- Kid has fire and determination -- he'll be able to play right away and once the strength comes, look out!

Do we know they aren't trading him?

We don't know, but I don't have a lot of faith in this pick, and I hope he turns out to be great.

As I had said I would be fine with him, but since there were multiple reports of an impending trade I am guarded for now.

I have a lot of faith in this pick -- This kid even says that he knows people are skeptical of euros but he's not like any of the guys before him -- he is hungry and actually loves the game -- it's about time we didn't draft for need or for the now and finally are looking big picture

Phil compared him to Pau Gasol saying Pau was 227 lbs when drafted. We still need more pics. Phil also said Porzingis was the biggest risk reward guy in the draft.

Billy, I've watched tape of him acting like a big pussy on D.

I'm only very loosely follow the NBA and very casually cheer for the Bulls, but I saw this on Twitter and felt really bad for you guys. Hope this guy works out (except against Chicago).

Phil didn't rule out doing more tonight.

I feel good. I feel bad about not having a pick next year because of Grunwald.

They have those trade exceptions and should use them.

Isola no Knick lover

Lot of executives believe Kristaps Porzingis will eventually be the best player in this draft. I met him last month. Great kid, very focused

More

Kristaps Porzingis left Latvia at age 14 to play professionally in Spain. Yes, he needs to bulk up but he's not soft. Very mature & smart.

I wonder what Marc Gasol thinks of him.

@WojYahooNBA: The Knicks are trading Tim Hardaway to the Hawks, who will draft Jerian Grant for the Knicks, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Report: Hardaway to the Hawks for their pick, and the Knicks will take Jerian Grant.

He's considered old at 22. Ouch! (And he is Harvey Grant's son).

Porzingis is the highest upside guy in the draft but is very risky.
