This Week on the Blog

Okay, could be a really interesting week on the blog and three out of four of the teams have to make decisions.

Yanks:  Their season is over, but a rather crucial offseason has begun.   They may start moving front offices pieces now, or they could wait until the contracts are up after the World Series.    We might start hearing some buzz about what their overall plans are, or at least start reading some reporters ideas of what they should be.

Giants:  The Giants have to decide what to do with Jayron Hosley by tomorrow, so a roster move could happen, there, unless cutting him is the roster move.  Seems like Beckham is finally full go, so we'll have to hope that there are no other setbacks before his debut.   Perhaps Beason will be back.

Rangers:  The Rangers will continue with their preseason schedule and are expected to make more cuts after the Tuesday game this week.  It will be interesting to see if they really are running a camp where the best players win the jobs, because, so far, the prospects have been outplaying the pros.   So we'll see if that's allowed to happen with the roster decisions.

Knicks:  They've got to start camp at some point, don't they?  Oh, and we'll probably see more articles about JR Smith.

Glad a Giant didn't say this:

Sheldon Richardson to those chanting for Vick: "Shut up. If that’s the case produce a child to make it to the NFL we’ll see what he got."

That was a real foolish comment. I bet it comes back to haunt them somehow.

Sounds like frustration is setting in with the Jets.

So Girardi said in his season ending wrap-up that Beltran had bone chips before he was signed but that they hadn't bothered him. Add that to age, contract-length, and that they decided against signing him to a 2 year deal two years ago because of injury concerns, and the decision to sign him is even more stunning.

He said A-Rod is the 3B if he can do it physically, Beltran is the RF, and Prado adds versatility at 3B and 2B, which to me means he plays 2B if A-Rod can play 3B.

Is there any question that Cashman and this organization is simply not grounded in reality?

With all of that in mind, Cashman said he does believe this offense can fix itself.

“You’ll see the real Carlos Beltran next year,” he said. “And Tex should be much better. His doctor says the first year after wrist surgery is difficult, and the next year is better."

*sigh*

Apparently, Hal buys that crap and that is all that matters.

As for the Knicks, I have seen some discussion about the absence of any extension talks. But that's understandable because no one knows if he is the player who showed so much promise as a rookie, or the one-dimensional, injury-plagued player he has been since. I'll go with the latter, but I wouldn't invest in that yet.
