Whither Melo?

With the Nets four way trade apparently still at a standstill, and Donnie Walsh apparently trying everything in his power to acquire the inefficient superstar, the question is should the Knicks be trying? Though I have always seen Carmello as a Knick, it would be ridiculous to trade for him at the current prices and with Denver feigning disinterest in the Knicks' best young talent. I like Carmello, but he is a volume scorer who doesn't rebound or play defense up to the levels he has shown in college and international play. He doesn't seem like a carry your team to a title type at this stage of his career. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Rangers Make More Cuts

The Rangers today ended the tryout deals of Exelby, Semenov, and Manning, who will go back to Juniors for an over age season. They also sent down Grachev, MZA, Byers and Weise among others. Surprisingly, Michael Sauer seems to have intrigued them and is still with the team. They're down to 9 defensemen and will have to move or waive two more before the season. That they have retained Sauer and Valentenko makes me wonder if they have something cooking with Rozsival or Gilroy or both. Or perhaps they would pair Sauer or Valentenko with Rozsy to bust a move. It's interesting because they did keep Eminger, who seems to be cut out for the 7th D role. Go Rangers!

Yanks Win in Extras!

After Mo Rivera managed to blow a save and a lead in the top of the ninth by giving up FOUR stolen bases, the Yanks tied it up on a base hit by Cano to send the game into extras. Joba and Logan pitched a clean tenth. The Yanks managed to load the bases with no outs, before Thames hit into fielders choice that erased Granderson at home. Fortunately, Juan Miranda worked a walk to "drive in" Gardner and the game was won. Way to grind. Go Yanks!

Giants Give One Away

The Giants managed to outplay the Titans on offense and defense today, but still managed to lose the game on turnovers, penalties and errors. Too often they let themselves respond to Titan cheapshots. Eli would be having a career year if his receivers didn't keep tipping the ball to the other team. Yikes. But, it's only game three and the Giants have started 1-2 and won a Superbowl in the fairly recent past. Go Giants.

Rangers Dump Redden

Sorry we're still without pictures, but the Rangers took a necessary step today by cutting Wade Redden. His deal was odious as are the deals of Rozsival and Drury. Hopefully, Rozsy will be gone soon. Drury has a no-movement deal. He thinks it means on the ice, too. But, one way or another, we're staging a youth movement and there is talent in the system. Go Rangers!

Back Soon!

With the Yanks heading to another post-season, the Giants off to a so-so start (maybe they'll flip the script of the last two years and finish strong this time), the Rangers starting to play their preseason and apparently giving the kids and chance and the Knicks doing whatever it is they do, I'll be back to my regular posting practices shortly. Thanks for keeping the blog going in the absence of new posts from me. Seriously, thank you. Go Teams!
